Regional Training on GLP-Supervised Field Trials, 5-16 May 2025, Ghana
The African region continues to require capacity building needed to facilitate active involvement in national, regional and international food safety standards setting, particularly residue data collection. Areas to cover include pesticide residues in crops, such as the so called minor use/species. Building on past regional training in Kampala, Uganda in 2022, on okra, whose results were well received by the Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues and the Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues (CCPR), further training has been organised in Ghana, hosted by the Ghana Standards Authority and the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission, covering good laboratory practices and practical involvement in supervised field trials. This is expected to contribute to ongoing CCPR discussions on the need for Maximum Residue Levels for pesticides in okra and chili (read more in the detailed story below from Ghana)
